ABOUT THE LIBRARY
Located on the south side of Syracuse, approximately one-and-a-half miles from the downtown area, Beauchamp Branch provides traditional library materials for adults and children—books, magazines, videos, DVDs, audio books and music CDs. Public access computers with fast Internet connections and Microsoft Office are available on first-come, first-serve basis.

There are after-school Reading Club and Computer Club programs for children in elementary grades. Special programs throughout the year include a celebration of Kwanzaa and various other community based programs.

Annual programs for adults and children feature Black History Month, Black Poetry Day, Kwanzaa and a celebration to honor the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. In addition to regularly scheduled programs, the auditorium and a small meeting room are available for use by community groups and organizations; advance booking is required.

The library owns a wealth of materials by and about African Americans, including fiction, biographies, poetry, and books and videos on the arts, social sciences and history. The children’s books represent the best in the field. Some one-of-a-kind videos are also housed on the premises. Over 400 photographs of local people and places, with some going back as far as 1800s are also in the library's collection. The photographic materials do not circulate. Class visits are welcome, by appointment only. Please call 435-3395 for more details.

The Beauchamp branch library is currently seeking volunteers to sit on its Citizens Advisory Board. The board meets periodically to discuss programming, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising ideas. Please call 435-3395 for more details.
